When Fred Cuellar of Diamond Cutters International started to design A.J. Foyt’s ring, he looked at every ring created for race car drivers. He wanted to blow the best ring away and did so with a black and white checkered flag with 133 individually cut black and Vivid White investment grade diamonds.
“I wanted the flag to look like it was waving in the wind,’’ Cuellar said. “I wanted to create a ripple effect for this like your car just went racing by.’’
The ring contains over 2 ½ ounces of 18-karat gold and silver. Foyt’s ring is one of the largest at size 14.
